We would carry out a full charting of your teeth (i.e what fillings you already have), check your gums for any signs of gum disease. We would also check the health of your teeth and carry out an oral cancer screening. Normally, we would take a 3D scan of your teeth, and may also take some small x-rays, so that we can better explained any treatment you may need. Our staff would then fully explain any treatment you may require and ensure any treatment plan is tailored to suit your needs.
Bleeding gums can be a sign of gum disease. Early stage gum disease can normally be treated by improving your oral hygiene (brushing the correct way for the correct amount of time) but you may also require a visit to the Hygiene Therapist to remove and hardened plaque (calculus). For more severe gum disease, we would usually tailor a hygiene programme and possible referral to a periodontal specialist. It is best to have your gums checked if you are getting any regular bleeding on brushing.
